-Philosopher: Helped to find out the truth about the universe and led to many important discoveries.
-Socrates: His belief that absolute standards existed for truth and justice forced people to think about their values and actions.
-Plato: His philosophic writing dominated thought in Europe for almost 1500 years.
-Aristotle: His discoveries provide the basics of the scientific method used today.

2. I think Pericles goal to strengthen Athenian democracy had the greatest impact on the modern world because this goal led to direct democracy. Direct democracy is the same legal system many countries use today to elect politicians. The people are able to vote and choose their presidents, senators, etc. without a representative.

3. Pericles increased the number of public officials who were paid salaries so all citizens could run for office, even the poor.

5. The Athenians probably didn't want to go outside of their comfort zones and examine the "unexamined life." Some Athenians were confused as to Socrates' meaning and didn't like this new way of thinking.
