For today's lesson one objective, we had to define multiple terms that can help us to understand time zones and general time around the world. Time zones are the region of the globe that observes a uniform standard time for legal, commercial, and social purposes. UTC is universal coordinated time and it is a time standard, basically, for every 15 degrees west the time is an hour up, but for every fifteen degrees west it is an hour down. This is an easy way to be able to calculate time zones so everyone is able to know what the time is in different places. GMT is greenwich mean time and it is located at the prime meridian (0 degrees). GMT is the master reference time for all points on Earth. Countries also use things such as daylight savings times for part of the year as an adjustment to their time zone.
